Did you request an extension of time to file your tax return? If so, the filing deadline is coming soon.

Since October 15 falls on a Saturday this year, you have until October 17 to file.

But don’t wait to file! File electronically as soon as possible once you have all your information together. There’s no need to wait until the October deadline.

If you owe taxes, remember that penalties and interest could apply to any amount you still owe following the original tax deadline because an extension of time to file your tax return is not an extension to pay. So as soon as possible, either pay the full amount you owe or make payment arrangements, such as setting up a payment plan.
